Funders & Supporters

Young Cumbria is gratefully supported by a number of organisations and supporters who have aided different aspects of our development or specific projects.

Children In Need

Children In Need has provided Young Cumbria with a number of grants over several years to support our youth work delivery. This support enabled amongst other things the development of numerous projects and activities with work focusing on the most disadvantaged communities and because of Children In Need we have supported thousands of young people over the years.

UK Youth

Young Cumbria is a longstanding member of UK Youth. We work in partnership with them to enhance youth work practice and delivery both in house and throughout Young Cumbria’s own member clubs.

Isthmus Cottage

Young Cumbria is very pleased to have been able to undertake a refurbishment of Isthmus Cottage in early 2018. The property has been upgraded to provide accommodation to meet the requirements of young people and their leaders today. The building still retains the original layout and character and we hope we continue to provide good value accommodation for youth groups, schools and other carefully vetted groups.

The property now boasts:

  • Double Glazing
  • Stainless steel kitchen – with industrial dish washer, lpg cooker, microwave, fitted hot water urn, fridge freezer, two sinks plus separate food preparation sink
  • New boilers and radiators providing central heating throughout
  • New bunk beds and contract mattresses
  • New collapsible tables and stackable banquet chairs
  • Modular seating in lounge area
  • New flooring and carpets, new blinds and curtains
  • New paths and gravel to car park area

Needless to say, none of this could have taken place if it wasn’t for the generous grants and donations from the following people and organisations:

Brewster Maude Charitable Trust, Nuclear Community Network, which is a group of companies in the nuclear supply chain working together for the benefit of the community, Sir James Cropper KCVO, Annabel Lewis, Colin Riley.
