Young Cumbria are an Operating Agency for the Youth Achievement Awards (including Junior Achievement Awards and the Youth Challenge Award), and organisations wanting to deliver the Award in Cumbria are able to do so by registering as a ‘Participatory Unit’ under Young Cumbria’s Operating License.  

The 2008/09 registration cost is £48.   Each Participating Unit is able to enter up to 35 portfolios each year at any level of the Award.

Participatory Units must also ensure that their staff who are involved in the delivery and support of the awards, have undertaken the one day training course, ‘Introduction to the Youth Achievement Awards’ – enabling them to become an ‘Award Group Worker’.  The training provides workers with the background, knowledge and skills to ensure the effective delivery of the awards.  Visit our training page to find out details of the next training opportunities and costs.

Each participatory unit receives support and guidance in delivering the awards as well as access to Internal and External Moderation sessions.

Materials

Each young person undertaking an Award must complete an ‘Award Book’.  The Award books are individual to each level, and provide young people with pages and space to record their learning and achievements.  For each Award, young people must also ‘tell the story’ of their learning, by collecting evidence along the way.

Evidence will depend on the activities and challenges decided by the young people, but may include:
