Young Cumbria are currently delivering at least one course in each area of the county, funded by Cumbria Road Safety Partnership.  For information on these courses and how to refer a young person on to a course, please contact us.  The programme is also being delivered as part of Young Cumbria’s youth work curriculum within existing projects and groups.

It is also possible for Young Cumbria to deliver courses within a range of youth projects and organisations (including schools & colleges).  The programme is flexible and can be adapted to suit a wide range of settings and be tailored to meet the needs of specific groups of young people.   Please get in touch to discuss your specific project ideas.

As well as the structured courses, detached youth work sessions are taking place in Barrow, funded by Cumbria Road Safety Partnership, which target those young people engaged in the ‘cruising’ scene.  This work enables informal road safety discussions to take place with those young people already able to drive and those who are passengers of young drivers.  Talk to us if you would like to develop something similar in your area.

Partnerships

Young Cumbria continue to actively contribute to Cumbria Road Safety Partnership, in particular the education sub group and local area CRASH meetings.

The First Gear programme also utilises expertise from a multi agency team including Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria Constabulary, Cumbria Connexions, local Road Safety Officers, Cumbria Alcohol and Drugs Advisory Service, BRAKE and other local agencies.
