These are just a few examples of activities undertaken by young people to complete various sections of their Award. In each case the young people were required to negotiate personal targets, ensuring each activity was challenging and rewarding to them.
Skill Section
Young people developing their pool skills, learning new techniques and skills and supporting others to do the same. These young people also had the opportunity to compete in the county pool competition.
Young people completing a 12 week First Gear course, exploring attitudes and behaviours inherent in the safe use of motor vehicles, and learning about car maintenance and cost.
Young people gaining new art skills, exploring different forms of art and working to create a piece for their youth centre.
Service Section
Young people fundraising to take a group of young musicians to a music
recording studio and then later to play at a young musicians festival in Denmark.
Young person teaching a community member to play the guitar.
Young person volunteering at the youth centre, taking on responsibilities for the café and organising activities.
Young person taking on a leadership role at a local Climbing wall, supporting younger members to take part and enjoy the activity, whilst working towards a climbing leadership course.
Young person volunteering at a local Charity Shop once a week.
Physical Recreation Section
Young people taking part in a Martial Arts programme.
Young people regularly taking part in Skateboarding working towards competitions where appropriate and developing their fitness.
Young person taking part in Dance classes, working towards various levels and awards.
Young person taking part in a football project.
Expedition Section
Young people choosing to undertake a sailing expedition for the first time, sailing from Maryport to Scotland to the Isle of Mann, completing their RYA Competent Crew certificate along the way!
