BENEFITS

Young Cumbria has a long history of providing support to the voluntary youth sector. For 80 years we have supported youth clubs and projects across the county in both rural and urban areas with a variety of benefits that enhance their delivery to young people.

These benefits currently include;

  • Membership of UK Youth
  • Signposting to DBS umbrella organisations and youth club insurers
  • Discounted hire of our residential centre in Keswick – Isthmus Cottage
  • ASDAN qualifications for young people
  • Signposting to appropriate professional bodies.

FEES & CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

Fees

All of the above benefits are available for a nominal fee of £50 per year per club/organisation.

Conditions of Membership

The club/project should have at least 5 young people in regular membership within the age group 8 to 25 years
The club/project should have the support and guidance of an effective Management Committee, or similar structure, committed to the needs and aspirations of young people and the objects of Young Cumbria.
The club/project should have an adult within their governance structure (for insurance purposes) committed to providing opportunities for young people for self-development in a safe environment and in accordance with current legislation.
The club/project should be fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity.
The club/project should offer a range of activities relevant to the needs and aspirations of young people to stimulate the mental, physical, and emotional development of young people and encourage greater social awareness and tolerance of others.
The club/project should, where possible, provide young people with opportunities to participate in the running of their club/group.
The club/project should have adequate insurance cover for the club/group as advised by a reputable insurance company.
The club/project should have a written constitution, which accords with the objects of Young Cumbria, and ensure that financial records are kept and appropriately audited or independently assessed.
The club/project should be a Cumbria based group.
