The Youth Challenge Award is aimed at young people aged 11 to 14yrs, however they may be appropriate for people older, or even slightly younger. The focus of the Award is about ‘taking part’ in activities, the content of which can be decided by young people based on what interests and motivates them.
Each Award is divided in to five activities.
Each activity needs to be a minimum of six hours long.
The Youth Challenge Extra Award is based on the same principles but its focus moves from ‘taking part’ to ‘help organise’. The Award can be used as a progression from the Youth Challenge Award or as a direct entrant.
Young people complete the activity pages of their Award books as well as ‘tell the story’ of their learning using evidence collected along the way.
The Award provides a great bite sized introduction to whole programme, and promotes further progression in to the Bronze and Silver Youth Achievement Awards.
