As a quality youth work programme, Keyfund also provides young people with the opportunity to achieve an accredited outcome. There are a range of options available to young people, depending on the duration, content and stage of their project;
Keyfund Local Youth Award
In June 2007 Keyfund was approved by Cumbria’s Accreditation Network as a Local Youth Award, enabling young people who complete a Keyfund project and record their learning and progression as a result, to achieve an accredited outcome which is recognised across the county.
As the Award complements and enhances the existing Keyfund process, all young people taking part in Keyfund have the opportunity to achieve the Award. Each Award undergoes a moderation process, ensuring learning and progression has been recorded as a result of the project. There are a number of tools available in the ‘Documents Pack’ to support young people to evidence their learning but they are also encouraged to be creative and use methodologies which best suit them – such as video, recordings, posters etc.

OCN Award in Keyfund Skills
Young Cumbria work in partnership with Cumbria Youth Alliance to offer an OCN (Open College Network) Award in Keyfund Skills. On completion, young people achieve 3 credits at the relevant level of their Award.
The OCN in Keyfund Skills provides a great progression opportunity for young people who have completed their Local Youth Award, or are already at stages 2, 3 or 4 of Keyfund. This provides young people with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Award for their learning and achievements.
As well as these Keyfund specific Awards, young people can choose to make links to other programmes, such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Youth Achievement Awards.
