On the 11th December 2011 Young Cumbria took 21 young people (and Bruce Forsyth!) on a trip to Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Everyone met at Penrith Bus Station around 11:30 where they all got on a coach and set off on the way.
Whilst they were on our way there Andy (Youth & Community Worker, Young Cumbria) showed everyone a ‘Bruce Forsyth’ mask he had brought with him - and said who ever did the best ice-skating routine with it on would get to keep it.
By now everyone was really excited to get there, the time on the coach flew by and before they knew it they'd arrived.
Everyone got off the coach, got their ice skates on and went straight out on the ice, even though everyone was surprised by how cold it actually was! To begin with people were slipping and sliding everywhere, even when they were holding onto the sides. But within around half an hour, with a little help from each other and ‘Terry’ the penguin everyone’s confidence began to grow and the fun to win the Bruce mask had began....
The day quickly passed (time fly’s when your having fun) and there was just enough time for a cup of tea and bite to eat in the nice cozy café before hopping on the coach home.
On the way home Andy revealed the winner of the Bruce mask… Leah - who had never been ice-skating before!
