Another night of live music was held on 10th December at the Kirkgate Centre, Cockermouth in the form of ‘Band Blast’. Five acts - solo artists and bands filled the stage to share their musical talents with the young people of Allerdale

The atmosphere was great with young people dancing near to the stage whilst others were stood or sat around just listening; it was evident from the sea of smiling faces that everyone was enjoying the music.
The acts included the Ventriloquists, Gateway, The House of Three Hands and Alex Elliot. It was the largest ever attendance with over 70 young people turning up - mainly due to the event being widely promoted using local news and with help from local businesses displaying posters.
31 young people returned having enjoyed previous band nights which demonstrates the increased support from the local youth community.
A graffiti feedback wall was set up to give the young people in attendance the chance to comment on the night and to make some suggestions for future events. Comments included “Awesome night” “Make them more often” and “Get some street dancers and Dj’s involved”. These comments will be taken forwards in the preparation for the next ‘Band Blast’ on Saturday 11th February 2011.
We would like to thank the Kirkgate Centre for providing such a great venue.
