As off the 1st of March 2019 Young Cumbria’s involvement as principal deliverer of the Cumbria Youth Commission (CYC) project will come to an end.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter McCall and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for all their support over the last two years in crafting this into a truly meaningful piece of work.

The most rewarding part of any youth focused work is seeing the growth and development of the participants, we are very lucky to be have worked with some amazingly talented young people over the last two and a half years and would like to thank them for all of the time and energy they have contributed to the project.

We’d also like to thank all the various organisations that have worked with the young people on the project to help increase the impact of the work done.

So what happens Next?

Well rejoice as this isn’t the end of the youth commission, merely a changing of the guard. The OPCC will be continuing the work of the CYC to ensure that young people have an equal input around policing of youth focused issues.

If you are a member of the Commission you will be receiving a letter detailing what will happen next, if you have any questions in the meantime please get in contact with the OPCC’s community engagement officer If you’re interested in seeing some of the research Cumbria Youth Commission have gathered you can read the groups first year report and the CYC impact report, also check out the Police and Crime Commissioners website to see what other work the Youth Commission has undertaken and delivered over the last two and a half years.
